How to enter your Meowdoku board
- Choose the same board size as your app screenshot.
- Select a region color and paint every cell belonging to that region. Follow the boundaries across the whole board.
- Repeat until every cell belongs to a region. A one-cat board needs as many regions as rows.
- Add any cats already given on the board. Add Xs only if you know they are correct.
- Choose Solve. Read the result before copying positions into the app.
Region labels are not the original app’s exact colors; they are identifiers. Use one label for every cell of the same region, including a winding shape. Similar-looking shades can be different regions; compare the boundaries and the app’s color assignment carefully. Do not split one region into two labels or merge two different regions.
The editor supports square boards from 4×4 to 12×12. For a 6×6 puzzle, use six region letters and paint all 36 cells before solving. A known cat should be a starting clue or a placement you have proved; an X copied from an earlier guess can remove the real answer.
Read the result correctly
One solution
The entered constraints determine one set of cat positions. Check the original image once more before using them.
Multiple solutions
The input is underconstrained. Recheck region boundaries, board size and any given cats; do not treat the first result as a proven answer.
No solution means the entered board cannot satisfy all the rules at once. A wrong X, duplicated region, conflicting given cat or miscopied boundary can cause this. Clear uncertain marks, check the outer edges and try again.
An invalid-input message is different: it means the board data cannot yet describe a valid puzzle. Fix the indicated regions or dimensions before attempting another solve.
What the solver checks
A solution places exactly one cat in each row, each column and each colored region. Cats cannot touch, even at a corner. The tool searches the possible row placements while rejecting column conflicts, repeated regions and neighboring cats.
It searches for more than one solution rather than silently presenting the first answer as unique. The same rules power the independent Whiskerdoku practice game. Your manually entered board stays in your browser; it is not uploaded to a server.
Use a solution to learn, not just finish
Before revealing all cats, inspect the smallest region and the strongest row or column restriction. Compare your candidate notes with the output. Where did your notes leave a possibility that the answer excludes? Where did a wrong X remove a real cat?
The strategy guide explains singles, locks and counting. For an app level with a known source video, use the numbered walkthroughs to follow an explained deduction sequence for that documented board.
Solver questions
Can I upload a screenshot?
This version uses the region painter so you can inspect every boundary. Keep your screenshot beside the tool and reproduce the board. Automatic image recognition is not required to use the solver.
Will it solve daily or event boards?
It can solve boards with the supported one-cat-per-row, column and region rules. Enter any additional given cats accurately. Other rule variants need their own constraints.
Does it change my Meowdoku app?
No. It calculates positions from the board you enter and has no access to your app, account, purchases or progress.
