How to play Mochidoku
- Read a kitten’s clues. Choose a kitten or the item from the tray. The notebook shows clues mentioning it; switch to All clues for the whole case.
- Place every piece once. There is exactly one piece in every row and column. Unlike classic Meowdoku, pieces may touch and rooms may hold more than one.
- Use the floor plan. Tables, bookshelves and plants block squares. Rugs, cushions and baskets can be sat on. Beside means up, down, left or right.
- Close the case. When everyone fits every clue, name the only kitten alone in a room with the missing item.
A tick means a clue fits the pieces currently placed; it does not prove that the whole solution is correct. A red exclamation explains a contradiction. You can erase or undo without losing a Hint.
Find your next small deduction
Start with a specific clue such as “on a cushion” or “in the Pantry”. After placing one piece, its row and column cannot hold another. Link two-piece clues only when you know enough about both kittens. If a piece has no direct clue, use the remaining lines and the rule about the item’s room.
Choose your kind of case
- Journey: 60 fixed cases across six chapters, with a case map and permanent closed badges.
- Daily challenge: a small fixed mystery, new at midnight UTC.
- Free practice: choose a 5 × 5, 6 × 6 or 7 × 7 floor plan and Easy, Medium or Hard.
- Weekly challenge: a separate hard 7 × 7 investigation for a slower session.
Learn with Mochi opens a separate guided case. You can skip it, leave it or restart it without changing your Journey, Daily or Weekly progress. Guided cases do not earn cast cards. Ordinary case closures feed the same cast-card collection as Meowdoku. Saves stay in this browser; when saving is unavailable, keep the tab open.
Mochidoku questions
Is this another Meowdoku theme?
No. Classic Meowdoku places identical cats by rows, columns and colours. Mochidoku gives each kitten an identity and true clues. You combine clues with a furnished floor plan, then identify the culprit.
Does X mean a particular kitten cannot go here?
X means the square is empty for every piece. Select another kitten to read its clues; do not use X for a single kitten’s candidate notes.
Who are the suspects?
Ginger, Biscuit, Pepper, Sesame and Yuzu appear in smaller cases. Toffee, their puppy neighbour, joins the biggest cases. Mochi is the detective. Each case includes a missing fish, a ball of yarn or a broken vase.
Do the cases have a single answer?
The case generator and solver check for a single arrangement and one culprit. Hints explain a deduction rather than revealing the entire board. Bigger cases may use short case-by-case reasoning.
Is this connected to a mystery book or another app?
Mochidoku is an original Whiskerdoku game with its own generated cases and artwork. It is not affiliated with any other mystery puzzle brand.
